its fairly safe to say that jay bliss is on fire at the moment. now he takes time out from his recently launched stomping grounds imprint to follow up on his 2013 appearance with och on the remix ep. here the warm, punchy 9 minute a-side creates a highly seductive floor-tension. flip the disc over for two modern takes on minimalism, possibly paying homage to studio one or basic channel with persistent rhythms, undertones of original dub, shaken and stirred with plenty off bliss magic.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

franz meersdonk und günther willers aka rdf are back on the road. the speedometer obviously tweaked, turned up and back on track. on the way tramper simon sunset got on board, et voila: made himself comfortable in the back cabin. left a bunch of wood back there. they drove the semi right into the sawmill and took care of the rough pre-cut themselves. cutter lowtec supported the two street heroes with all he’s got, or rather, he actually applied his own cutting-machine-operation. simon sunset’s wood cuttings were molded by a bunch of saws, slicers, and files. and for a final fine-tuning herb lf came running out of the canteen. and lo and behold, the machines spit out three beautifully stable pieces of wood with the finest texture- pattern captured in a stable frame of bark. so good was the material to begin with that nothing was left over for old, stinky bark mulch
